LCUSD #12 is thrilled to be one of 33 recipients of $15 million in funding for organizations across Illinois from the Job Training and Economic Development Program (JTED). JTED provides workforce training and wrap-around services to boost employment among specific populations facing barriers, including those in rural areas.
Recently retired Superintendent Dr. Gregg Fuerstenau and CTE Director Dr. David Lett began the application process in the spring of 2024. The funds will help sustain and grow programming at Litchfield's area career center, SCI, which serves nine high schools in Montgomery and Macoupin counties.
Programs benefiting from the $562,500 grant include Welding Technology, Auto Technology, and the Illinois Laborers' and Contractors' Joint Apprenticeship and Training Program. Additionally, the funds will be used to partner with LLCC to expand offerings and include an Industrial Technology and Manufacturing curriculum.
